An Unusually Large Salivary Duct Cyst of Minor Salivary Gland-A Unique Case Report

The obstruction of salivary gland ducts causes salivary duct cysts (SDCs), and their occurrence is rare in minor salivary glands. A 25-year-old male patient reported with painless swelling on the left cheek for six months. Intraoral examination revealed a large diffuse swelling, measuring 6 × 5 cm, extending from the corner of the mouth to the posterior part of the buccal mucosa. Under local anesthesia, the cystic lesion was excised in toto trans-orally. Histopathological examination showed cystic lumen lined by bilayered ductal epithelium with lobules of salivary gland acini present in fibrocollegenous capsule revealed it to be salivary duct cyst. Intraoral SDC mimics salivary gland neoplasms, making the diagnosis difficult. SDC needs to be included in the differential diagnosis of swelling affecting the buccal mucosa.
