摘要

Introduction

Osseodensification is a newly discovered procedure that uses specially engineered DENSAH burs to form an autograft layer of condensed bone at the periphery of the implant bed. The aim of this research is to evaluate the primary stability of dental implants placed in narrow ridges utilizing the osseodensification drilling technique.

Methods

This prospective, double-blind, randomized controlled clinical trial was carried out in ten patients with twenty implant sites. Prior to implant implantation, an orthopantomogram and cone beam computed tomography were performed to examine bone width and height. In each patient, one implant has been placed using conventional drilling technique, and another one has been placed using osseodensification drilling technique randomly. OSTELL's resonance frequency analyzer was used to evaluate primary stability.

Results

The results show that the conventional group had a mean of 64.9 ± 6.95, the osseodensification group had a mean of 68.6 ± 2.3, and the mean difference between the groups was 3.7. The P value was 0.0432 (P < 0.05), indicating that it was statistically significant.

Conclusion

This study indicates that osseodensification drilling increases primary stability as compared to conventional drilling.
