Explaining the Relationship Between Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Traits and Comorbid Psychiatric Symptoms Among Convicts, Pakistan
摘要
This study explained comorbid psychiatric symptoms (CPS) through obsessive–compulsive personality traits (OCPT). Through self-reported questionnaires, data were collected from 179 convicts in the Central Jail Sahiwal, Punjab, Pakistan. The findings of the study showed that obsessive–compulsive personality disorder based on Personality Inventory for DSM-5 Short Form showed a good construct validity using four facets specified in DSM-5 (APA, 2013). In addition, the findings showed that the relationship between OCPT and CPS is explained through the mediating role of disruptive self-functioning, predicted by a low level of education. The suppressing effect of education in the presence of age as a moderator was also found to be present in the relationship between OCPT and CPS. The study's findings are significant as they identify factors that could be considered and targeted to treat comorbid psychiatric symptoms.
