<p>Goat farming is an important pillar of India’s rural economy, providing livelihood support, nutrition, and employment to millions of smallholder farmers. Despite its importance, goat production is severely constrained by gastrointestinal helminth (GIH) infections, which negatively affect animal health and result in considerable economic losses. This review brings together data from studies conducted across India between 2000 and 2025 to describe the prevalence and epidemiological patterns of GIH infections in goats. A total of 36 studies, reporting over 29,000 samples, were analyzed, resulting in an overall prevalence of 67.59%. Higher infection rates were reported from North and Central India, with states like Punjab and Madhya Pradesh showing particularly high prevalence. Seasonal analysis indicated that infections peak during the monsoon season. Variations in prevalence were also observed across demographic (age and gender) groups, with adult goats and females generally showing higher levels of infection. The findings of this review sum up the need for region-specific and season-based control strategies that take age and sex into account. Strengthening targeted parasite management programs and encouraging further epidemiological research will be essential for improving goat health, which will help enhance productivity, and support the livelihoods of rural farmers in India.</p>
