Revenue efficiency of banks: a dynamic two-stage network DEA approach
摘要
Dynamic data envelopment analysis (DEA) serves as an effective performance assessment tool in the banking sector for analyzing its impact on the nation’s economic growth. This study develops a dynamic network DEA approach for revenue efficiency assessment of banks having two main processes, namely, the deposit generation process and the investment and lending process. The proposed approach is further utilized to analyze the revenue effectiveness of India’s twelve public banks for the years 2020–21, 2021–22 and 2022–23. The results indicate that three banks, namely, BoM, PSB, and SBI, are revenue efficient. CBoI is the most inefficient in terms of generating revenue. Moreover, the output target points and reference sets are provided for the improvements of revenue-inefficient banks. The targets suggest CBoI to primarily focus on increasing the performing loans to maximize revenue.
