Multi-criteria decision making method-based supplier selection in textile supply chain: a literature review
摘要
In contemporary supply chain management, like all other manufacturing industries, the performance of a textile industry also depends on its strategic choice of suppliers. The process of supplier selection and evaluation deals with identification of the most suitable supplier or a set of suppliers from a pool of alternative choices while appraising their performance against various criteria. Researchers already applied different multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) techniques to solve the supplier selection problems in various industries, including textile. However, systematic analysis of MCDM applications in textile supplier selection is missing in extant literature. This review paper explores the contents of 67 research articles available in the Scopus and other scholarly databases dealing with applications of different MCDM tools for solving supplier selection problems in textile industry. Those past research works are comprehensively analyzed in terms of different bibliometric parameters, and how other analytical model(s) have been integrated with MCDM techniques to focus on the current and emerging trends. It is noticed that analytic hierarchy process and technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution have been the two most popular MCDM methods, while quality, cost and delivery performance have been the commonly employed criteria. Fuzzy set theory has frequently been integrated with MCDM tools to tackle uncertainty and qualitative information involved in the supplier selection process. This review would thereby serve as a foundation for further exploration and development of supplier selection research in textile industry through application of MCDM techniques. It also proposes some future research directions helping the industry practitioners in investigating the potentiality of MCDM methods in solving textile supplier selection problems.
