Applications of a league-then-knockout tournament based hybrid algorithm for engineering problems

摘要

This paper deals with the hybrid population-based metaheuristic algorithm through league-knockout tournamenting process. In the tournament of popular games, as per performance of different teams, the above average teams are selected from the group league phase. Then through different rounds of knockout phase, the best team is identified in the final round. This idea is applied to introduce a newly developed hybrid metaheuristic algorithm to solve highly nonlinear bound constrained optimization problems. This article presents a newly developed hybrid algorithm based on group league then knockout strategies considering quantum PSO, a metaheuristic algorithm. In the phase of group league, five different situations are proposed. For testing the efficiencies and robustness of proposed hybrid algorithm, eight bound-constrained problems are considered and solved. Thereafter, the simulated results are numerically compared. Finally, the best version of the proposed algorithm is used to find the solution of real-life engineering problems.
