Block chain enabled Indian Agricultural supply chain using ISM DEMATEL approach

Research on Agricultural supply chain is being performed since from ages to strike the balance between different stages of supply chain. It is evidenced from the Block chain research studies about the implementation and beneficial outcomes out of Block chain technology to majority sectors. The current study highlights the major hindrances faced by agricultural sector in India and proves the application of block chain to agricultural supply chain will become a key to address the highlighted issues. The authors identified Block chain technology enablers in the context of ASC through a critical literature survey, followed by confirmation of these enablers from an expert survey called the Delphi technique. The results of the Delphi technique i.e. Delphi enablers are subjected to ISM, MICMAC and DEMATEL approach. Both methodologies (ISM and DEMATEL) appear to be most suited for this research, as the enablers must be measured at both the qualitative and quantitative levels. The study identified the key enablers of BT in implementing them in the Agricultural supply chain, followed by determining the interrelationship of 15 enablers via Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) and Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) Analysis. Fifteen enablers were found in the literature and evaluated by authors after consulting academicians and experts, before employing a combined Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) and Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) technique to envisage the intricate fundamental connections among the selected BT enablers. Traceability and transparency was the most important reason for BT deployment in ASC, followed by Supply Chain Responsiveness and Supply Chain Integration. The verdicts of the study will assist agricultural researchers in developing methods for Block Chain Technology implementation in agricultural science, resulting in efficient agricultural supply chain.
