<p>The aim of this paper is to acquaint researchers with the historical background and development of optical solitons, as well as their applications in communication systems. This paper discusses the general properties of solitons and explains how they can be utilized in various physical applications. We also briefly review recent advancements in optical fibre–based communication and address its limitations. The primary focus of this study is the fundamental theoretical development of soliton-based communication in optical fibres. Finally, we highlight soliton interactions and their potential use in ultra-fast optical logic devices. The overview presented here emphasizes the significant role of soliton-based communication research in modern technological developments.</p>
