Design and simulation of a secure MIMO-RoFSO communication system at 60 GHz relying on a chaotic optical signal

This article uses OptiSystem software to simulate and analyze a secure Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Radio over Free Space Optical (RoFSO) communication system at 60 GHz relying on a chaotic optical signal at 32 GHz under various weather and atmospheric turbulence conditions. This secure communication technology masks the information in the message based on a chaotic optical signal, offering a high level of security that is more successful than standard approaches such as encryption algorithms. The results show that the channel's communication distance is reduced compared to the proposed system without using the chaotic optical signal part. To overcome this, including an optical amplifier in the proposed system with a chaotic optical signal improved the channel's communication distance by around 42.4–64%, with all weather and atmospheric turbulence conditions considered.
