摘要

As cities continue to rapidly urbanize, the need for energy-efficient and sustainable infrastructure becomes increasingly critical. Smart city lighting is a pivotal element in modern urban planning which offers a unique opportunity for technological innovation. This work presents a cutting-edge solution for sustainable lighting in smart cities by combining the Internet of Things (IoT) with Visible Light Communication (VLC) and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technology. VLC enables high-speed and energy-efficient communication via Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) lights, while OFDM ensures robust data transmission with reduced BER and improved reliability. The integration of IoT with solar-powered LEDs facilitates real-time monitoring, adaptive control and optimal energy use in urban lighting systems. This approach aims to lower energy consumption, enhance public safety and provide actionable insights for urban management. Through real-world applications the work illustrates the effectiveness and potential benefits of implementing the IoT-VLC-OFDM lighting solution in smart cities.
