Performance analysis of NRZ, duobinary, CSRZ & VSB-CSRZ modulation formats for 32-channel WDM radio-over-fiber systems using single drive Mach-Zehnder modulator
摘要
With the development of 5G technology, Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) approach in conjunction with Radio over Fiber (RoF) communication system becomes the most feasible method to transmit different types of signal over a single fiber, offering several applications. In the manuscript, analysis of the WDM based RoF communication with 32 channel is presented using Single Drive Mach-Zhender modulator (SDMZM) with several modulation schemes, including Duo Binary (DB), Carrier Suppressed Return to Zero (CSRZ), Non-Return to Zero (NRZ) & Vestigial Sideband Carrier Suppressed Return to Zero (VSB-CSRZ). The proposed 32 channel RoF WDM communication system is being simulated in Optisystem 16.0 and the system’s desired performance is analyzed with many performance indicators such as Eye diagram, Q-Factor, BER. The results are being plotted and compared for various measuring parameters such as input signal power, transmission distance & amplifier gain. The simulation is performed with signal transmitted at 1550 nm wavelength over 32 channel WDM RoF system on the common fiber link taken upto the length of 150 Km with 256 Gbps transmission rate. The system’s performance is being examined at 50 GHz and 100 GHz channel spacing. We received the best outcomes for VSB-CSRZ at + 5 dBm power level and got maximum Q factor of 23.42 and 23.14 for 100 GHz & 50 GHz respectively. Almost same results are obtained for 50 GHz & 100 GHz channel spacing. It has been noted that the VSB-CSRZ give better results and provides good eye opening with less distortion as compared to NRZ, CSRZ and DB modulation schemes.
