<p>This paper highlighted the hybrid optical amplification units in passive optical access communication networks for the maximization of long fiber reach and average repeater spacing. Network gain is measured and clarified in relation to pump power for different hybrid amplification schemes for the employment in Giga pasive optical network (GPON) and Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) in the downstream direction. Optical/electronic signal per noise ratio for network variations are studied and demonstrated against the variations of pump power for different hybrid amplification schemes for the employment in GPON and EPON in the downstream direction. Network gain/light/electronic signal to noise ratio are also demonstrated in relation to pump power with (Raman/EDFA/SOA) amplification scheme for the employment in both GPON and EPON network in the downstream direction. Average repeater spacing is measured against amplifier pump power variations based (Raman/EDFA/SOA) amplification scheme for the employment in both GPON and EPON network in the downstream direction for various spectral operating wavelength. Average repeater spacing, network gain, signal quality factor, bit error rate, signal loss coefficient and signal dispersion coefficient are measured against operating spectral wavelength variations based (Raman/EDFA/SOA) amplification scheme for the employment in both GPON and EPON network in the downstream direction at the amplifier pump power of 300 mW. As well as possible data rates are clarified and measured clearly against the operating spectral wavelength variations based (Raman/EDFA/SOA) amplification scheme for the employment in both GPON and EPON network in both downstream and upstream direction at the amplifier pump power of 300 mW.</p>
