<p>This paper presents the optimization of a Double-Pass (DP) Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) to enhance the performance of wideband communication systems, L + U band. The Use of a DP-EDFA increases the gain by reflecting the signal back through the amplifier, allowing it to pass through the active medium multiple times. This configuration offers significant advantages, such as operating over a wideband range of 90 nm (L + U band). It achieves a high small signal gain up to 46 dB and maintains a low noise figure of 4 dB. The performance of the DP-EDFA was optimized by investigating the optimal DP-EDFA length and pump power.
