摘要

In this work, using single mode fiber (SMF) is tapered down to (84.5 μm) to produce a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) in order to determine the refractive indices of different Copper samples, a chemical sensor in optical fiber that uses Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) has been created and put into action for use. The sensor’s performance parameters, including, signal to noise ratio, figure of merit, resolution, and sensitivity, are evaluated together with the refractive indices and concentrations of several types of Copper samples. The optical fiber-based SPR sensor’s value sensitivity was discovered. The sensor’s exposed sensing region was a 4 cm long and 50 nm thick Au metal layer, was 11.11 μm/RIU, while the figure of merit was 27.77, the resolution was 9 × 10-6, and the SNR was 0.25.
