Design and analysis of 2D photonic crystal based all optical comparator
摘要
In this article we have presented all optical comparator using 2-D photonic crystals using silicon poles. The structure of this device is very simple, featuring a small footprint of 62 μm². The all-optical comparator has been validated using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. We have analyzed the proposed device to calculate the extinction ratio (ER), contrast ratio (CR), amplitude modulation (AM), and Q value and verified the output through optical field distributions. The main advantages of the proposed structure include its very low footprint area, response time of 60 fs, high data rate of 16.66 Tb/s, higher ER of 13.95 dB and CR of 9.85 dB. The performance of the proposed comparator has been investigated by varying the ER, CR, Q factor, and transmission ratio with respect to wavelength and rod radius.
