Propagation characteristics of q-Gaussian laser beam in collisionless magnetized plasma

摘要

In present communication, we have explored propagation characteristics of q-Gaussian laser beam in collisionless magnetized plasma. During the transit of incident along the magnetic field direction, there are two propagation modes viz. extraordinary mode and ordinary mode. The carriers redistribution is significantly affected due to variation in external magnetic field strength. The ponderomotive force pushes the electrons away from higher intensity areas thereby causing carriers redistribution. This causes increase in refractive index and further inducing self-focusing of input beam. The well-established paraxial ray approximation is used for deriving ordinary differential equation of order two for the beam waist of laser beam. Further, Runge–kutta 4th order method is used for doing numerical calculation of 2nd order differential equation. Finally, the impact of change in beam intensity, plasma density, cyclotron frequency, q-values and beam radius on behavior of beam width of beam as a function of normalized propagation distance is also explored.
