摘要

The paper presents a Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF) Fabry–Perot Interferometer based on Surface Plasmon Resonance for measuring wind speed. An Au Nano film of 60 nm is applied to the end of a PCF sensor by splicing it with standard multimode fiber (MMF) on one side and the solid core PCF on the other. The sensor experimentation was followed for different wind speeds. There is a noticeable shift in the resonant wavelength peaks when the wind speed increases due to the maximum transmission of energy from the reflected power of light guided through the sensor to the surface Plasmons. Experimental results show that the maximum sensitivity (S) arrived at 32.609, the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) was 0.825, the Resolution (R) was 0.00316 and the Figure of Merit (FOM) was 0.179. As a result of its superior quality factor, the designed sensor was a superior wind speed sensor.
