Acousto-optic modulator based multi-operational logic circuit: design and analysis
摘要
In this paper, we have designed and analyzed a Multi-operational Logic Circuit (MLC) based on Acousto-Optic Modulators (AOM). The MLC has four outputs which in combination can perform various logic functions like: OR, NOR, AND, NAND, XOR, and XNOR gates. We have considered TeO2-based AOM and their operation is theoretically investigated. This material is highly transparent to light with negligible absorption. The AOM works in the principle of the Bragg Diffraction effect. The Bragg diffraction in the AO filter and AO modulator is famous for better efficiency in power transfer. The Quality Factor, Extinction Ratio, and Contrast Ratio of the AOM-based logic gate circuits are good (> 5 dB). We have utilized Gaussian waveform to carry the input information in both circuits of MLC and the logic gates.
