Numerical methods for modal analysis in optical rib waveguide structures: a review
摘要
Modal index and normalized index are commonly used in the study of semiconductor waveguides to model the performance of photonic integrated circuits. These indices are crucial in conducting modal analysis of electromagnetic wave propagation. Computational modeling plays a key role in studying these phenomena. The paper provides a concise overview of seven different computational methods used for modal analysis. These methods are applied to four distinct rib structures in GaAs material systems. By examining these methods, the paper aims to enhance the understanding of waveguide behavior and optimize their design for various applications.
