All optical 4-bit Galois field adder using 2-D photonic crystals

In this paper, we propose a novel structure of two-dimensional photonic crystals for all-optical 4-bit Galois field adders (GFA). The proposed structure has very small dimensions (14a × 40a) with a refractive index of 3.42 and a lattice constant of 612 nm. The working mechanism of this structure is based on the optical beam interference method. To investigate the performance of the proposed GF Adder, we simulated it using the FDTD method and calculated parameters such as extinction ratio (ER), contrast ratio (CR), quality factor (Q), amplitude modulation (AM), and transmission ratio (TR).
