摘要

This article reports the synthesis and formulation of near infrared reflective paint for cool coating applications using Mn, Ce doped ZnO pigment. Here, ZnO: Mn, ZnO: Mn/Ce composition has been synthesized by solid state diffusion techniques at 8500 C. Further, it was characterized by XRD to confirm of phase. The morphology of the pigment was analyzed by SEM to confirm its microcrystalline nature. UV-visible-NIR analysis was carried out to know the absorbance wavelength range for pigment. Paint formulation was carried out using the stoichometric weights of synthesized pigments, xylene, alkyd resin, etc. Later, the IR reflective performance of the paint coated on mild steel panels was monitored under an IR illuminating source that was exposed for 30 min. Thus, it is seen that prepared pigment exhibits better NIR reflective performance than pure ZnO pigment.
