Enhancing network performance in a long-haul communication system a wavelength division multiplexing and coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing approach

Presents a network optimization study utilizing wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CD-OOFDM) technologies. The designed network, spanning 120 km, incorporates WDM CD-OOFDM with SMF-DCF to achieve super bandwidth, Optimizing for superior spectral efficiency, and a total data rate of 250 Gbps. The quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM) scheme is employed, and the system is made and simulated to obtain a worth for Bit Error Rate (BER) that is as close as possible to zero which can be used in inter-satellite communications, key performance metrics including Q-Factor, and eye diagram are evaluated. The research utilizes the OptiSystem simulation tool for system design and implementation, highlighting its potential for enhancing network capabilities.
