Bi-functional absorption performance of metamaterial structure based on metallic-square with U-shaped slot

摘要

In this manuscript, a bi-functional absorption performance based on a new and simple design of metamaterial absorber is achieved in the terahertz region. The suggested design contains of metallic-square patch having U-shaped slot distance from the lower metallic section which is separated by dielectric medium. The proposed structure not only achieved the absorption behavior of single band at frequency mode 3.19 THz but simultaneously realized broadband absorption response over a continuous frequency span of 1.2 THz whereas its central frequency is 4.1 THz. The relative resonance bandwidths of the broadband response (in absorption > 50% and 71%) is, 29.2% relatively close to or even higher than the past reported broadband metamaterial absorbers that used several metallic elements. The bi-functional absorption response of proposed structure will have numerous vital applications than single functional devices.
