摘要

In this paper, Optisystem v. 20 designs and studies a simulation of an underwater optical wireless communication (UOWC) system. A 532 nm laser diode (LD) is used for 10 Gbit/s modulation with different modulation schemes. The proposed communication system used return-to-zero on–off (RZ-OOK) and non-return-to-zero on–off (NRZ-OOK) models. The optical signal was transmitted in different underwater environments, such as pure sea (PU), clear ocean (CO), coastal sea (CS), harbor I (HA-I), and harbor II (HA-II). APD and PIN photodiodes are used to detect the optical signal. Using an NRZ-OOK modulation with an APD photodiode resulted in the best performance. The results show that an underwater distance of 28 m was achieved for the PU with a Q- factor of 5.4 dB and a bit error ratio (BER) of 10–9.
