Low lightness image enhancement based on entropy fidelity and color restoration using YIQ color space

摘要

Image enhancement is the process of adjusting digital images so that the results are more favorable, for example, by removing noise, sharpening the image, or increasing the contrast of the image, so that key features are easier to identify. Entropy Fidelity is one of the algorithms used to improve image contrast. In this study, low-light images were improved by improving the image contrast based on entropy fidelity and color restoration, and using the YIQ color model, we improved the lighting by stretching the lightness. This method was compared with several others using two types of quality standards, such as Entropy (EN), Naturalness Image Quality Evaluator (NIQE), and Peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR). The results showed the success of the proposed method in improving the contrast and lightness of low-light images and obtained good values Entropy (7.240), NIQE (3.360), and PSNR (15.138).
