Studying the optical and nanostructural properties of CdS/NiO/ITO as a photodetector

In this paper, tri layer nanoheterostructure of CdS/NiO/ITO for photodetector device fabrication using co-precipitation method then spin coating for multilayer deposition was considered. Structural and optical properties were obtained using XRD, SEM, UV–visible spectrum; photoluminescence efficiency of nanohetreostructure was investigated. The optical bandgap of CdS and NiO nanoparticles were found to be 3.15 and 3.4 eV, respectively; absorption band edge was determined to be 275 and 390 nm for NiO and CdS, respectively. Photoluminescence verified that nickel oxide has wide bandgap. Electrical studies show forward bias of I-V curve depending on incident light intensity. Heterostructure recorded power light of 3.1 in region between 420–500 nm. Results confirm effectiveness of heterostructure for devices (such as visible and UV detectors) and enhance their optical, and electrical properties.
