<p>Food legumes are vital crops, globally valued for their nutritional and economic significance. However, insect pests significantly impact yields by damaging various plant parts. This study assessed the diversity and abundance of insect pests and their natural enemies in food legume crops across diverse agro-climatic zones of the Kashmir Himalaya. Over two growing seasons, field surveys using handpicking, sweep netting, light traps, and beat sheets methods, recorded 27,342 insect individuals representing 33 species from 18 families. Aphididae dominated the pest complex, comprising over 82% of the pest population, with <i>Aphis fabae</i> (34.11%) and <i>Acyrthosiphon pisum</i> (32.32%) being the prevalent species. Additionally, 1310 natural enemies were recorded, including key predators such as <i>Coccinella septempunctata</i> and parasitoids like <i>Diglyphus horticola</i> and <i>Microplitis demolitor</i>, highlighting their potential in natural pest suppression. Rarefaction and extrapolation techniques revealed significant spatial variation in species richness and diversity across sites. These findings provide crucial insights into insect pest dynamics and biological control potential in legume ecosystems, providing a baseline for developing sustainable, region-specific pest management strategies for improving crop productivity and food security.</p>
