<p><i>Drosophila suzukii</i> has become a serious pest in fruit-growing regions worldwide, particularly attacking soft-skinned fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, cherries, and grapes. Originally from Asia, it has quickly spread to North America, Europe, and parts of South America, posing a significant threat to crops in warm climates, including the western United States, southern Canada, the Mediterranean region, and countries like Chile and Argentina. Due to its preference for ripening fruit and rapid life cycle, it is challenging to control, creating a need for sustainable and effective management methods. Conventional methods relying on insecticides are problematic due to pesticide residues, limited effectiveness during fruit ripening, and, most importantly, the disruption of natural enemies of <i>D. suzukii</i>, such as parasitoids. This article explores the potential of biological control of <i>D. suzukii</i> through the use of parasitoid wasps. Studies on native and introduced parasitoid species have identified promising candidates that can effectively reduce <i>D. suzukii</i> populations. However, further research is needed to optimize the effectiveness of this approach, as biological control alone, using natural enemies, may not yield lasting results. Factors such as environmental conditions, biodiversity, and the local adaptation of <i>D. suzukii</i> populations can limit the efficacy of parasitoids. Therefore, the best results may be achieved by incorporating biological control into Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies that also include other pest management techniques.</p>
