<p>This article presents the process of developing an instrument for standardized quantitative surveys, illustrated by the creation of a&#xa0;scale to measure research attitudes among social work students (FE-SozA). In addition to situating scales within the context of quantitative research and outlining the rationale for developing such a&#xa0;scale, the paper focuses on the methodological approach. The concluding discussion provides a&#xa0;critical reflection on the development process.</p>
