<p>The situational bond in everyday life means that social work professionals must deal with the combination of their own everyday knowledge and specialized knowledge in the genesis of their actions to a&#xa0;greater extent than other professions and occupational groups. The research project on the topic of couple relationships builds on the limited insights into how structurally different knowledge is used. Using a&#xa0;narrative–analytical approach, the knowledge structures and interrelations of professionals in the field of child and youth welfare services (SGB&#xa0;VIII) in Germany on the subject of ‘couple relationships’ in their communicative availability are explored. The results of the reconstructive study show four process patterns of knowledge formation in the field of action.</p>
