摘要

This article deals with the significance of professional knowledge in social work services. Based on a conversation analytical study of care plan conferences (CPC), it is shown how the knowledge used especially by the professionals relates to the individual discussion stages in the CPC and to which particular requirements it reacts. As the study in detail reveals, CPCs prove to be a three-step process of establishing, validating and adapting case-related knowledge, with which above all the efficacy of professional knowledge is ensured. Thus, professional knowledge is functional in the sense that it supports the professionals in solving the problems of processing the case. A central problem in this respect is social commitment, i.e., the willingness of those affected to cooperate, without which effective case processing cannot be guaranteed.
