摘要

Funerals not only offer comfort to the bereaved and commemorate the deceased. They are also social practices that constitute families. Using examples from an ethnographic research project, this article attempts to highlight various facets of ‘doing family’ at funerals. It argues that families are much more than just a ’context’ of rites of passage. Rather, they are ritual actors as well as subjects of ritual enactment.
