Transformation privaträumlicher Lebenswelten

This article highlights the importance of housing counselling in Germany, a field that has received little public attention and research. Counsellors in this field have various backgrounds such as social workers, healthcare professionals or individuals working voluntarily. The article emphasizes the significance of housing counselling in the context of socioecological transformation processes, as it deals with the interface between the private living environment, health services and sustainable sociospatial developments. To address this, the article introduces the concept of sociospatial resilience and proposes a framework for professionalisation options in providing housing advice for older people, using the example of the Brandenburg region in Lusatia. The article also connects questions of preventive healthcare to the regional challenges posed by demographic change, the shortage of skilled workers in the social and health sector, and the ecological dimensions of housing and construction. The unique challenge in counselling processes is to balance the needs and requirements of older people for care, accessibility, and independence with the inclusion of older individuals as active participants in the process.
