Harvesting intelligence: the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on agricultural practices

In agriculture, artificial intelligence (AI) can support soil health investigations to gather data, track meteorological conditions, and suggest fertilizer and pesticide applications. Using farm management software helps farmers make better decisions at every step of the crop-cultivation process, increasing productivity and profitability simultaneously. This review basically highlights the impact of AI on agriculture in recent years and the different modifications which have been ventured in today’s era for utilizing the high end skills of AI for bringing about an agricultural revolution. Three issues must be resolved for AI-based technology to gain popularity in markets, i.e., unequal mechanized distribution; algorithms’ capacity to analyze massive amounts of data rapidly and accurately; and data security and privacy for both devices and data. It also discusses issues including data privacy, obstacles to technological adoption, and the moral ramifications of AI in agriculture. Although highlighting the challenges of transferring machines and algorithms tested in experimental settings to real-world settings, the review also emphasizes an already successful development and a promising application prospect for agricultural robots, which have been developed and improved significantly in recent years and are aimed at various aspects of the agricultural industry. The agriculture sector can achieve increased sustainability and efficiency by incorporating AI into operations, opening the door for further developments.
