System model exploitation techniques to foster MBSE adoption at airbus
摘要
This paper highlights how system model exploitation techniques are boosting Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) adoption at Airbus. The core idea involves enhancing the proprietary MOFLT© (Mission Operations Functional Logical Technical) framework to better leverage system models, aiming to improve system understanding, automate documentation, and optimize technical task management for greater efficiency and agility. The MOFLT framework, built with SysML v1.6, is crucial for early detection of design defects, significantly cutting costs of non-quality. To maximize investment and motivate teams, the focus is on practical model exploitation within the MOFLT and MBSELab ecosystem. Key application areas include: Deeper System Insight (requirements coverage, functional analysis, and change impact analysis); Automatic Documentation Generation (automating deliverables directly from the model for consistency and efficiency); and Technical Management Support (providing objective model maturity reports on correctness, consistency, and completeness). The systematic integration of these techniques into MBSELab©, a unified Airbus enabler, is vital. Despite substantial upfront costs, the paper stresses that delivering tangible benefits through model exploitation is essential for widespread MBSE adoption. Future efforts will prioritize cost control and developing MBSE services to systems engineering to ensure efficient delivery.
