<p>This paper focuses on the deployment of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to address the inherent complexity in developing the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) V3 system. Specifically, it examines how we mastered the extensive range of functions to implement, while ensuring consistency and coherence across its many subsystems and interfaces. We outline a robust approach grounded in clearly defined business objectives for the system design process, supported by the early availability of a proven methodology that included comprehensive documentation, training and ongoing support. The MBSE framework enabled the detailed capture of operational and system scenarios, and of logical and physical architecture definitions. It also facilitated the generation of key deliverables such as detailed system documentation, operational procedures, interface specifications, and network architecture. Key metrics—including the number of models, users, and interfaces—provide a concrete return on experience. Beyond managing complexity, the deployment of MBSE on the EGNOS V3 project enhanced the collaboration within the design team and improved efficiency, offering valuable insights for future projects involving complex system development.</p>
