Implementation and clinical management status of smart care and smart technology systems in Shandong Province, China: a multicentre cross-sectional study

The development and use of smart care and smart technology are increasing, but their clinical application at a low level which may hinder digital health development. The current research hotspots of smart care lie in the design and application of AI systems and little investigation about the status of clinical management and implementation of smart care and smart technology systems. To understand the status, this study conducted a multi-center cross-sectional survey.
MethodsConvenience sampling method with questionnaires was used to survey 3534 clinical departments in 423 medical institutions, covering different levels and types of medical institutions and all regions in Shandong Province.
ResultsThe results of this study was found that all medical institutions in the Shandong Province of China have information nurses, and there is predominantly one nurse whose academic background is mainly in nursing. The most widely used among departments at different classification and category of hospitals is nursing documentation system, nursing adverse event intelligent management platform, and nursing administration system, while the least used is smart home system.
ConclusionsThe cultivation and construction of smart care talents in medical institutions need to be further strengthened, and the clinical application of smart care and smart technology systems needs to be further promoted. It can cultivate professional and leadership nursing talents for the development of smart care, increase the sense of the use of smart care and smart technology systems by nurses and patients, and guarantee the safety of nurses and patients.
