Patient perspectives on an ehealth app and health management module in Hong Kong: a qualitative study
摘要
In Hong Kong, the Food and Health Bureau and the Hospital Authority have created an electronic Health Record Sharing System to facilitate seamless health record sharing among providers. This qualitative study aims to explore patient perspectives on the acceptability and usability of the eHealth app and its management module.
MethodsSemi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 patients using the eHealth app, recruited from the local clinic. Thematic analysis was employed to identify key themes regarding user perceptions, barriers, and suggestions for improvement.
ResultsFive key themes emerged: (1) Acceptability: The app’s user-friendly design was well-received, empowering patients in managing their health; (2) Benefits: Participants noted enhanced communication with healthcare providers, leading to improved care; (3) Applicability: The app was perceived as convenient and easy to navigate; (4) Barriers: Challenges included difficulties in recalling past health readings and inconsistencies in recorded data; (5) Improvement Suggestions: Participants recommended better data synchronization, additional features, and increased government support for promotion.
ConclusionsPatients in Hong Kong generally viewed the eHealth app positively but faced challenges with data recall and functionality. Recommendations include enhancing interoperability, expanding health tracking options, and providing ongoing user support.
