<p>The Brazilian Biophysical Society, SBBf, has played a pivotal role in advancing biophysics in Brazil and Latin America since its foundation in 1936. By promoting interaction among researchers and students through courses, meetings, conferences, and congresses, the Society has helped to consolidate biophysics as a respected discipline and fostered extensive collaborations. Therefore, to celebrate its 90<sup>th</sup> anniversary, a special issue of <i>Biophysical Reviews</i> will honor its legacy and highlight emerging trends and future directions in regional biophysical research.</p>
