<p><i>Bakonybatrachus fedori</i> is a small-bodied, discoglossid frog originally described on four incomplete bones (holotype ilium, and referred maxilla, angulosplenial, and scapula) from the Upper Cretaceous (Santonian) Iharkút fossil vertebrate locality in Hungary. Since <i>B. fedori</i> was described in 2012, ongoing excavations and screen-washing at Iharkút have yielded another incomplete maxilla and three ilia referrable to the same species. These new specimens corroborate most osteological details for <i>B. fedori</i> (e.g. maxilla is not ornamented labially and bears teeth; ilium bears a distinctive dorsal protuberance and low dorsal crest) and reveal intraspecific variation in the ilium (relative heights of the dorsal protuberance and the dorsal crest vary, and some ilia have a shallow concavity between the dorsal protuberance and dorsal crest). <i>B. fedori</i> continues to be interpreted as a moderately strong swimmer and jumper, had a peri-aquatic lifestyle, and along with a larger neobatrachian frog and potentially two albanerpetontid species was part of a low diversity lissamphibian assemblage that lived during the Santonian in a floodplain environment in the Iharkút area. As with the broader vertebrate assemblage documented at Iharkút, the lissamphibian assemblage consisted of Laurasian (<i>B. fedori</i> and albanerpetontids) and Gondwanan (the neobatrachian frog) components.</p>

摘要

Bakonybatrachus fedori is a small-bodied, discoglossid frog originally described on four incomplete bones (holotype ilium, and referred maxilla, angulosplenial, and scapula) from the Upper Cretaceous (Santonian) Iharkút fossil vertebrate locality in Hungary. Since B. fedori was described in 2012, ongoing excavations and screen-washing at Iharkút have yielded another incomplete maxilla and three ilia referrable to the same species. These new specimens corroborate most osteological details for B. fedori (e.g. maxilla is not ornamented labially and bears teeth; ilium bears a distinctive dorsal protuberance and low dorsal crest) and reveal intraspecific variation in the ilium (relative heights of the dorsal protuberance and the dorsal crest vary, and some ilia have a shallow concavity between the dorsal protuberance and dorsal crest). B. fedori continues to be interpreted as a moderately strong swimmer and jumper, had a peri-aquatic lifestyle, and along with a larger neobatrachian frog and potentially two albanerpetontid species was part of a low diversity lissamphibian assemblage that lived during the Santonian in a floodplain environment in the Iharkút area. As with the broader vertebrate assemblage documented at Iharkút, the lissamphibian assemblage consisted of Laurasian (B. fedori and albanerpetontids) and Gondwanan (the neobatrachian frog) components.
