Permian chondrichthyans from the Guadalupe Mountains National Park of West Texas (USA)
摘要
Diverse chondrichthyan remains have been reported from the Kungurian, Cisuralian to Capitanian, Guadalupian (Permian) of the Guadalupe Mountains, Texas, USA. The chondrichthyans first occur in the Shumard and El Centro Members of the Cutoff Formation; then in the Pipeline Shale Member of the Brushy Canyon Formation; the Getaway Limestone Member of the Cherry Canyon Formation; and the Reef Trail Member of the Bell Canyon Formation. The assemblages include elasmobranchians such as bransonelliforms, symmoriiforms, ctenacanthiforms, jalodontiform, basal euselachian, anachronistiform, and euchondrocephalians such as petalodontiform, helodontiform, eugeneodontiforms, deltoptychiid, cochliodontids, and copodontiform. The distribution of chondrichthyan taxa has been analyzed for the previously published and new assemblages. The most taxonomically diverse assemblages occur in the Roadian Pipeline Shale Member of the Brushy Canyon Formation. The occurrences of Bransonella lingulata, Stethacanthulus decorus Glikmanius myachkovensis and Heslerodus divergens in the Guadalupian of the Guadalupe Mountains in West Texas are the youngest records in the world.
