<p>I describe ankylosed ungual and preungual phalanges and a similar but fragmentary ungual phalanx from the Upper Cretaceous (Turonian) Bissekty Formation of Uzbekistan. These phalanges are attributed to Theropoda indet. based on the prominent proximodorsal process. The phalanges reported here show unusual features not present in currently known theropods: the absence of collateral ligament pits on the preungual phalanx, the presence of a complex network of internal cavities shared by both phalanges, the presence of large foramina on the preungual phalanx associated with the network of cavities, ventral and lateral foramina on the ungual, and heavy surface sculpturing of the ungual phalanx. These phalanges cannot be referred to any currently known theropod taxon. The shortening and symphalangism of the phalanges are comparable to those observed in some specialized digging mammals. The enigmatic phalanges from the Bissekty Formation possibly belong to a highly specialized digging theropod.</p>
