A Simple Tunable Achromatic Quarter-Waveplate with the Combination of Wavelength-Dependent Waveplates
摘要
In this investigation, a simple achromatic and tunable quarter-waveplate is described with the combination of two wavelength-dependent waveplates. By rotating two commercially available waveplates, the total phase retardation can be exact π/2 independent of the wavelength of light. By using Mueller matrices, the system is theoretically derived, and the Stokes vectors are obtained by simulation. To verify the performance of the proposed quarter-waveplate, a commercial polarimeter was used, and the results were compared to those of theory. As the result, the deviations of Stokes vector parameters were less than 0.053 as root-mean-squared errors.
