Strengthening Effect of Fe60Mn16Ni12Cr12 Medium-Entropy Alloys via Co-Doping Al / C
摘要
The strengthening effect of combined addition of substitutional and interstitial elements on the mechanical properties of medium-entropy alloys (MEAs) have rarely been explored. Hence, we analyzed the effects of co-doping Al and C on the mechanical properties of Fe60Mn16Ni12Cr12 MEA. The addition of 0.6 at% C and 1.0 at% Al to the MEA substantially increased the strength from 227 to 425 MPa without compromising the plasticity. Quantitative analyses demonstrated that the increase in strength originates from multiple mechanisms, including hetero-deformation-induced strengthening by the heterogeneous grain size structure.
