摘要

Gamification elements are increasingly prominent on social live streaming services (SLSS) platforms. Yet limited research has been done to understand this phenomenon, including its current progress in research and practice, and its psychological and behavioral impacts on users. Thus, this study conducts a systematic mapping review of 117 peer-reviewed articles published between 2017 and 2025. We identify 14 core gamification elements from both research and practical implementations, and synthesize their psychological and behavioral outcomes examined in these works. The analysis reveals four dominant research thrusts and highlights notable imbalances in current research foci, such as an overemphasis on monetization and social interaction behaviors and limited examination of content consumption and long-term value co-creation in gamified SLSS. Based on the above findings, we propose an integrative framework, providing insights for future research opportunities and offering recommendations for practical design strategies for gamification on SLSS platforms.
