A Spatial Decision Support System for Coastal Inundation Risk Atlas
摘要
Coastal regions are increasingly vulnerable to inundation risks due to sea-level rise, extreme weather events, and anthropogenic pressures. To address these challenges, a Spatial Decision Support System (SDSS) for the Coastal Inundation Risk Atlas (CIRA) has been developed using the M.APP platform integrated with a PostgreSQL spatial database. This system provides a user-friendly, web-based interface that enables stakeholders, planners, and policymakers to visualize, analyze, and assess inundation risk across diverse coastal zones in Tamil Nadu. The platform leverages geospatial datasets, and risk parameters to generate dynamic, interactive maps that support data driven decision-making. PostgreSQL with PostGIS extensions ensures robust spatial data management and query capabilities, facilitating efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis. The system also supports the integration of ecological layers, enabling comprehensive vulnerability risk assessments in alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). By offering customizable risk scenarios and real-time data overlays, the SDSS enhances preparedness, planning, and resource allocation for coastal resilience initiatives. This work demonstrates the potential of web-based geospatial technologies in supporting sustainable coastal zone management and has been showcased as a proof of concept on an interactive web platform.
