<p>Growing urban populations are one of the biggest challenges for developing countries, as they create pressure on their available land resources and have a negative impact on the environment. Different cities in India are facing the same problem. Different methods for urban growth prediction use remote sensing data to analyse urban growth and its various aspects. The CA-based model has been used extensively by different researchers to predict future urban growth. Analysing and predicting the futuristic growth of urban areas is very important for planned development. This study aims to analyse the urban growth in a selected tier 2 city, Bhopal, by using the CA-ANN model and the CA-Markov model. Using two different models has helped us understand and compare the accuracy and results of both models. The simulation of this model gives detailed information about the urban growth process and shows the temporal dynamics of its LULC. Different consecutive LULC maps have been used for the years 2018, 2020, and 2022 for the CA-based model simulation.</p>
