<p>Natural hazards are the most destructive events all over the world. It can devastate both natural and human created features on the surface of the earth. Among the natural hazards, landslides, floods, lightning are the deadliest hazards. In this study impact of multi hazard on socio-economic vulnerability has been assessed using multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA). Investigation shows how multi hazard impact is accelerated by the urban demographic and infrastructural footprints. A total number of 1010 households were interviewed to get proper information about socio-economic conditions, building structure and hazard events. In this study, more than 30 parameters have been taken for multi hazard socio-economic vulnerability assessment. The study revealed that 217 hectares (17%), 564 hectares (45%) and 395 hectares (31%) built-up areas are highly, moderately and lowly vulnerable by landslides respectively. It was also found that 108 hectares (11%), 270 hectares (28%) and 574 hectares (59%) of built-up areas are high, moderate and low vulnerable area by flood respectively. Moreover the study area is highly vulnerable by lightning like other province of Meghalaya. In this context 477 hectares (43%) built-up is high, 512 hectares (46%) is moderate and 81 hectares (7%) is lowly vulnerable by lightning hazards. According to the study, it is important to support the probabilistic method to assessing socioeconomic vulnerability since it might be a useful tool for fostering community growth in the investigated region and providing guidelines for reducing catastrophe risk.</p>
