摘要

Citizen science in which people investigate personal health questions can be regarded as the ‘zero’ or ‘base-line’ of health research. This type of research can lead to functional and consequential discoveries. However, the personal research capacities of citizens are hardly used in regular health research, nor in healthcare, while they could constitute the basis for it. This article outlines the development of the ‘zero-line’ of health research propelled by the Self Research Network Netherlands and its partners in the broader patient movement, and that they connect to regular ways of knowledge development.
